In the framework of the MEMO project (Monitoring of Exotic Mosquitoes in Belgium), BopCo is organising a workshop at the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren.
This years Benelux zoology meeting will take place at the Antwerp Zoo on December 14th and 15th.
Last summer, tiger mosquitoes were spotted in five different locations in Belgium. It is remarkable that this mosquito now travels to our country overland from neighbouring countries. The tiger mosquito or Aedes albopictus has been making its way to our regions for some time now, ITM researchers and their partners are monitoring this and other exotic mosquito species at 23 risk locations that are likely first points of entry into Belgium.

BopCo will present results from its bushmeat project at the 18th Meeting of Partners of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership which will be held on the 27th and 28th of November in Tervuren, Belgium. More information about the event can be found here. The poster entitled "Bushmeat for sale in Brussels" will be made available through the BopCo website after the conclusion of the event.

The reference library GenBank is a crucial tool in species identification by DNA barcoding. For the universal barcode region COI there are now over 2.5 million records publically available.
